Free Concerts 15th to 19th of August

Sing for Pleasure 2017 Summer School Concert Series: 15th – 19th August 2017, Keele University Chapel

Choral charity Sing for Pleasure has once again organised a series of FREE afternoon and evening concerts in the Chapel this month, which feature students and staff taking part in conducting and singing courses held during its annual Summer School training week at Keele. Attendees will also participate in Choral Evensong on Wednesday 16th August. Concert highlights are as follows:

Tuesday 15th August – 8:00pm
Whole Course Concert
Ramirez: Misa Criolla
A Capella Works & Folk Songs featuring Advanced level conducting students
A variety of songs performed by Musicianship for Singers course students


Wednesday 16th August – 6:00pm
Choral Evensong
Pelham Humfrey: Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis in E minor
Purcell: Rejoice in the Lord
Ayleward: Responses

Thursday 17th August – 4:45pm
Monteverdi: Vespers (extracts) featuring Advanced level conducting students
Archer: Nowell! Nowell!, African Folk Songs & Barbershop featuring Intermediate 2 level conducting students


Friday 18th August – 4:45pm
Schubert: Mass in G (with orchestra)
Sea Songs featuring Intermediate 2 level conducting students
Folk Songs & Carols featuring Foundation, Intermediate 1 and 2 level conducting students


Saturday 19th August – 8:00pm
Whole Course Concert with Orchestra
Astorga: Stabat Mater Vivaldi: Beatus Vir featuring Advanced level conducting students
Popular and classical pieces from our three Choral Courses

Retiring collection proceeds will go towards a scholarship place on the charity’s 2017-18 Young Conductors Programme, a scheme which offers talented young musicians in straitened circumstances the opportunity to prepare for a choral conducting career.
